La nuit blanche est célébrée simultanément à Paris, à Bruxelles et à Toronto.
Ces trois villes seront interconnectées pendant une heure, de 1h à 2h du matin, au Centre Barbara.
Le but de cette connexion en temps réel entre les trois villes qui célèbrent la nuit blanche très différemment est de transmettre des sensations, et partager des expériences: entre McLuhan de l'Université de Toronto, la Ryerson University, la galerie Artcore à Toronto, la Bellone à Bruxelles et le Centre Barbara à Paris, pour une visite des oeuvres exposées et une interaction entre les publics.

Dans la Cour de La Bellone, de 23h à 3h00 du matin aura lieu la première "Nuit de la Poésie européene" : Liliane Wouters, William Cliff, Francis Dannemark, Karel Logist, Daniel Arnaut, Jean-Pierre Verheggen liront leurs poèmes et Nuno Judice, Maurizio Cucchi, Luis Antonio de Villena, Benno Barnard, Durs Grɼnbein, Volker Braun, Anise Koltz et Jean Portante pour le Portugal, l'Italie, l'Espagne, la France, les Pays-Bas, l'Allemagne et le Luxembourg, leur répondront chacun dans leur langue. Traductions françaises lue par le comédien Denis Lavant. Transitions musicales par le musicien Luc van Lieshout. Programme conçu par Jacques Darras. Dans le cadre de la Nuit Blanche et du "Marathon des mots".

"Nous, la Ville, ..."
Pour célébrer Nuit Blanche et le 45ème anniversaire du programme McLuhan en culture et technologie de l'université de Toronto, les membres du programme McLuhan en culture et technologie (MPCT) du Coach House Institute de l'université de Toronto et ceux du Laboratoire de recherche collaborative du monde urbain (CURL) de la Faculté de droit Osgoode Hall ont souhaité que cette formidable occasion de découvrir ou de redécouvrir la Ville de Toronto soit une fête pour tous, ainsi qu'une réflexion sur la construction plurielle d'une identité Torontoise. Le programme de la Nuit Blanche 2008 reflètera ainsi cette vision au travers de mises en scènes et installations artistiques traitant de diversité, de perceptions et géographies différentes. Ces voyages culturels permettront aux Torontois de se réapproprier une identité collective, tel que suggéré par le thème de la nuit "Nous, la Ville, ...";

Un collectif d'installations artistiques sur le thème "Light up the night". "Dislocation" un défilé de mode; "The Highermen", une installation interactive du professeure Lila Pine qui propose au public d'interagir avec des interviews accordées par Jean Baudrillard, Alain Badiou, Judith Butler, Peter Greenaway, Eduardo Kac, Jean-Luc Nancy,Larry Rickels, Wolfgang Schirmacher, Elias Suleiman, Gregory Ulmer, Slavoj Zizek. Finalement, "Murmur video", un projet qui se propose de transporter le public de nuit Blanche dans les quartiers de Toronto grâce à des narrations accessibles sur téléphones portables, kiosques et sites web interactifs. Poésies et Imageries Bruxelloises at La Cour de la Bellone with Ubustine and Fred Jarry.
First European poetry night with Portugal, Italy, Spain, France, Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg participating to this event called as well "Le marathon des mots".
Respondents to the poets will be interacting in their native languages. This event represents European identity in its fullness.
Translations of the poems into French will be performed by comedian Denis Lavant. Musical interludes will be performed by musician Luc Van Lieshout

In celebration of Nuit Blanche in Toronto and of the 45th anniversary of the University of Toronto's McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology the walls of the Coach House will be turned into screens. The McLuhan Program in Culture & Technology (MPCT) and the Collaborative Urban Research Laboratory (CURL) will stage a series of events to reflect Toronto's metissageâour distinctive ways of merging & blurring languages, cultures, identities. The program for October 4th will reflect on the multifaceted nature of Torontonian identity and present different perceptions and geographical realities. These cultural journeys will allow Torontonians to re-appropriate a collective identity as suggested by the event's theme "We, the City â¦".

"Light up the night"
Ryerson University's Faculty of Communication & Design (FCAD) will present various artistic works created by faculty, students, and/or alumni from the Schools of Fashion, Image Arts, Interior Design, Radio and Television Arts and Theatre.
* The Highermen, Image Arts professor Lila Pine combines art with life's biggest questions in her interactive art installation The Highermen. The installation incorporates interviews with contemporary philosophers, artists and filmmakers who each provide responses to over 150 questions on philosophical theories and topical issues. The viewer is able to @ask' questions and change respondents through interactive elements incorporated into the installation.
